For Adults
Need some extra guidance in your life? University City Church of Christ has a number of programs for adults, young and old, to better enrich your life.
Small Groups
We were so encouraged by our time the last two years, and hope you’ll make your plans to continue your participation. If you did not participate last year, please be encouraged to find a group and get involved. The spiritual feast, as well as the fellowship opportunities, are immeasurable.
The auditorium group will meet at the usual time of 6:00 p.m. on Sunday evenings. Meeting locations for other small groups are posted in the hallway.

College Student Ministry
University campuses present challenges for students, making it vital for them to embody Christ-like qualities. Gators for Christ, supported by the University City Church of Christ and consisting of students from the University of Florida and Santa Fe College, focuses on evangelism, spiritual growth, fellowship, and service. Their mission is to glorify God through sincere relationships, Bible study, and fun group activities. Service projects include helping the homeless, aiding children, and community support. Gators for Christ also offers sports, Bible studies, and retreats, fostering a supportive and enjoyable environment.
Ready-to-Serve Ministry
The “Ready to Serve” ministry is administered by a group of dedicated women who prepare casserole dishes in advance so that when an unexpected need arises, such as a death in the family, an illness, or the birth of a child, meals are readily available. The meals are stored in the UCCC freezer so they are ready when needed.

Recovery Ministry
Substance abuse harms individuals and families but can be addressed in a supportive community. In 2009, University City Church of Christ (UCCC) launched its Recovery Ministry, which now includes a B-12 (Bible-based 12-step) meeting that provides a safe space for sharing experiences. The B-12 meets Mondays from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at UCCC. Additionally, the ministry offers professional referrals and emphasizes spiritual growth through mentoring and Bible-centered activities to help individuals recover and grow in faith.
Prison and Jail Ministries
The Men’s Prison Ministry has supported inmates in Gainesville and North Central Florida since 1984, primarily through financial aid to the Florida Prison Ministry in Lake Butler. This ministry, active since 1957, helps over 100 men connect with the Lord annually through Bible studies, counseling, and a Bible-based 12-step program. Services are held weekly at various correctional facilities, with regular visits to the Gainesville Correctional Institution. The Women’s Jail Ministry, established in 2000 at Alachua County Jail, has volunteers called the “Jail Doves” leading Bible studies three times a week and expanded to Lowell Correctional Institution in 2013.

English Partners
The University City Church of Christ welcomes international individuals, offering help adjusting to life in a new country and improving English communication. We provide free one-on-one English tutoring every Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at 4626 NW 8th Avenue, along with free study materials and a brief Bible discussion. There are various activities for children, college students, and adults. Join us for our 10:30 a.m. worship service if you’d like.
Christian Family Services
University City supports Christian Family Services of Gainesville (CFSI), which offers social services to individuals and families in need, regardless of background. Their mission, based on James 1:27, includes placing children for adoption, assisting pregnant women, and providing counseling. CFS aims to ensure homeless children have stable care before placement and offers resources for women facing unplanned pregnancies, including adoption education and financial assistance.

B-12 Recovery Meeting
B-12 is a Christ-centered, 12-step program at UCCC for those struggling with addiction, co-dependency, or family issues. Meetings occur every Monday at 7:00 p.m. at UCCC’s Family Life Center in Gainesville. B-12 offers a supportive, non-judgmental environment for recovery and is not a substitute for counseling or treatment. It is not a religious organization and welcomes non-Christians. The program uses the English Standard Version of the Bible and additional 12-step resources.
